It is with great pleasure that the Caribbean Branch of the International Council on Archives (CARBICA) in conjunction with the National Archives, St. Kitts & Nevis invite you to attend the first Caribbean Digitisation Workshop entitled, Preserving Your Memories in a Digital World’ on the beautiful island of St. Kitts & Nevis. The workshop, primarily funded by the Fund for the International Development of Archives (FIDA) of the International Council on Archives, is slated to be held 26th to 29th April 2017 at The UWI, Open Campus site. It is designed for the citizens of St. Kitts & Nevis, members of local heritage groups and CARBICA members across the region with an interest in low-cost methods of digitising their personal photographs and archival documents. The workshop will open on Wednesday, 26th April with an official Opening Ceremony and a small Poster Session from archives in the region.

A cadre of well-known regional and international archival and other heritage professionals will serve as presenters in the three-day programme. A heritage tour of the island is slated for the final day. This interactive workshop will provide key information as well as practical sessions for participants to understand basic techniques in digitising personal memories enshrined in photographs and archival documents. Ultimately, participants will be encouraged to share data of national significance with their National Archives to be preserved as part of societal memory. There will be a Train the Trainer Session for CARBICA members only.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be empowered to:
